The safety check
Before your tip is sent, TypVault checks your wording for details that could point back to you, like naming a small detail only a few people would know.
The check runs automatically while your tip is prepared. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
What the check looks at
Section titled “What the check looks at”Two things go into the check: the words you wrote and the crime category you picked.
Your location, your tip code, and anything about your device are never part of the check.
Nothing from the check is saved. It keeps no copy of your words and no record of what it flagged.
What this protects
Section titled “What this protects”The check protects you, the person sending the tip. Small details in your own wording are the most common way a tip can be traced back to its source.
If the check finds a phrase that could point back to you, it shows you that phrase, in your own words, before anything is sent. You decide what to change, and you make the change yourself. The check never rewrites your tip and never suggests wording.
You can always send your tip exactly as you wrote it. The check cannot block your tip, and it cannot change it.
The honest limit
Section titled “The honest limit”The check reads wording. It does not know your situation, so it can miss a detail that would identify you.
If nothing is flagged, you go straight to review. A quiet check is not a promise that nothing is there.
You know your situation. The check does not. Before you send, read your tip once more and remove anything that could point back to you.
