Messaging the program about a tip
Each tip routed to your agency has its own message thread, where you write plain-text messages to your program and read what they send back.
Send a message
Section titled “Send a message”- Open the tip from your portal.
- Scroll to the message thread on the tip’s page.
- Type your message in the box.
- Select Send.
Your message appears in the thread right away. Your program sees it the next time they open the tip. There’s no notification that pushes it to them.
What you can send
Section titled “What you can send”- Plain text only. The thread doesn’t take attachments, so write what you need to say into the message itself.
- Up to 4,000 characters per message. If you need more room, send a second message.
Editing and deleting
Section titled “Editing and deleting”You can’t edit or delete a message once you send it, so read it over before selecting Send.
What the thread shows
Section titled “What the thread shows”The thread shows messages your program has shared with you on this tip, along with your own replies. It’s separate from any working notes your program might keep that aren’t meant for you. Those don’t appear in this thread.
If your message doesn’t send
Section titled “If your message doesn’t send”If sending fails, the page tells you to try again. Check your connection and select Send once more. If it keeps failing, contact your program.
Related
Section titled “Related”If a message you sent doesn’t show up, or anything here doesn’t match what you see in your portal, contact your program — not TypVault.
