The safety check
Before your tip can be sent, TypVault checks your wording for phrases that could point back to you.
What the check looks at
Section titled “What the check looks at”The check looks at two things: the words you wrote, and the crime category you picked. Your location, your tip code, and anything about your device are never part of this check.
If it finds something
Section titled “If it finds something”The check does not rewrite anything for you. If it finds a phrase that could point back to you, it shows you that phrase in your own words. You decide what to do next: change the wording yourself, or send your tip exactly as you wrote it. Sending it as written is always available.
If there isn’t enough to check
Section titled “If there isn’t enough to check”If what you wrote is very short, the check may not have enough to work with. Add a few more sentences about what you know, then try again.
If the check can’t run
Section titled “If the check can’t run”Sometimes this step doesn’t work when you try to send. If that happens, you get two choices:
- Save your tip as a draft. You get a tip code right away. Nothing is sent yet. Come back later to look it over and send it.
- Send your tip without that step. Your tip goes as written, without the wording check.
A saved draft is locked the same way a sent tip is locked, and no one can open it until you come back and send it.
