Why tips can't be deleted
You can’t delete a tip once you send it, even if you change your mind afterward. There’s no delete control for you to use, and no way for your program to remove it early either.
Why this is on purpose
Section titled “Why this is on purpose”This protects you. If a tip could be deleted, anyone with a reason to want it gone could try to make that happen. That includes someone who pressures you to take it back after you’ve sent it. Because deletion isn’t possible, that pressure has nothing to work with.
Once your tip is sent, it stays sent. This is true no matter who’s asking: you, your program, or anyone else.
What happens instead
Section titled “What happens instead”Your tip isn’t kept forever. After your program’s retention period ends, it’s automatically destroyed, including the encryption key needed to read it. Once that happens, nothing in the live system can open it again. The full rules for how long a tip is kept, and how destruction works, are on the retention page linked below.
You don’t have to do anything
Section titled “You don’t have to do anything”You don’t need to take any action after you send a tip. You can stop checking on it, and stop sending messages, at any time. Your program keeps working the tip whether or not you check back. Walking away doesn’t put your tip at risk.
